Blaze

This rose is the all time greatest selling red climber in the USA. Introduced in 1932 by Kelley it quickly rose in popularity. Great spring flush, large weeping canes (easily trained). This own root beauty will explode in four years as a large, healthy show piece for northern gardens. Takes weather as tough as Z3 when protected-4b and below needs little covering. A strong rose for somebody starting out because of its low maintenance and hardiness. It may not be  exotic-but clearly a must for cold climate rosarians.

Captain Samuel Holland

This rose offers an outstanding choice for gardeners in search of a prolific yet hardy climber.  The slightly scented flowers are medium red with strong fuchsia undertones and appear both singly and in numerous clusters of up to ten alongside glossy foliage that's resistant to disease and pests. Cain hardiness is nothing short of stellar. It maintains the vast majority of the cains wood, even as low as zone 4. This is a easy rose to grow.

Golden Showers

The virtues of this rose are its cheerful blooms, elegant in the young bud; the sweet scent of its wide opening semi-double flowers and the way they drop cleanly when they are done; its continuity of bloom almost without pause from summer to late autumn; its pleasing glossy foliage; its compliance in growing as far as gardeners wish it to and not sulking however badly it is pruned; and its comparative smoothness which makes it an easy rose to handle.

Handel

This rose bears many blush flowers rimmed with pinky red, in wide clusters on upright stems.  The slender buds open into loosely double blooms of small to medium size.  Neatly formed with high centers in the young flower, they open cupped, and look their very best in cooler weather.  There is little scent, and the continuity of bloom through summer and autumn is excellent.  The plant is stiff and branching, so it needs to be planted on a wall, fence or trellis where it can spread out.

New Dawn

This rose has no faults and some great attributes that make it an all-time favorite of many rose growers.  Large, double, fragrant, cameo pink flowers fading to a flesh-toned white are the hallmarks of this rose.  The foliage is glossy, dark green and disease resistant on a bush that climbs to about 20 feet.  It is winter hardy and blooms all year long with an exceptional crop of flowers, both in small clusters and one bloom per stem whatever the climate zone.  The sweet scent of the blooms is another plus.  The canes and stems are pliable enough to accommodate any garden design.

William Baffin

This is a tough and hardy rose suitable for those colder areas where most roses cannot thrive.  The beautiful loose blooms are semi-double and strawberry pink, with a touch of white towards the centers which are lit up by golden stamens, and appear in clusters of up to 30 from summer to autumn.  There is little fragrance.  It can be grown as a specimen shrub, planted to from an impenetrable hedge or trained on a support as a climber.  The is very vigorous, with upright, slightly arching stems.
